AMKA Products manufactures more than 400 products that include shampoos, lotions, skin creams, hair relaxers, bubble baths, cleaning chemicals and dishwashing liquids. Products are distributed throughout South Africa, as well as to 34 other countries in Africa. The company employs more than a 1000 people. Currently four manufacturing facilities exist with a new facility commissioned.
Its Sunderland Ridge, Centurion, facility was the Candidate Plant for a Steam System Assessment.

Sockit Manufacturing produces socks for major international brands such as Nike and Adidas. The company employs around 50 employees at its factory in Parow Industria, Cape Town. Through IEE Project intervention, they were able to save energy, but, more importantly, reduce energy demand so they could increase production and employ more staff.
Steam Systems Optimisation
Klein Karoo International is located in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, and manufactures ostrich products. The abattoir produces ostrich meat in frozen raw and freeze cooked form, while the tannery produces ostrich and game hides. Klein Karoo Feathers manufactures all types of ostrich feathers and products such as handbags, clothing accessories and feather dusters.
Gledhow Sugar Company (GSC) is an independent sugar manufacturer with one factory in KwaDukuza (Stanger) on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, where 1.5 million tons of sugar cane is processed annually into roughly 160,000 tons of refined white sugar, 200,000 tons of fibre for paper production and 50,000 tons of molasses. The company directly employs 400 staff and indirectly supports the livelihoods of at least 3,000 farm employees and hauliers supplying sugar cane to GSC and hauling finished goods to market.
