Green Pioneers’ Exhibition - Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable Economies: Innovative approaches, business models and partnerships

CAPE TOWN.Industry, business and the public are invited to visit the “Green Pioneers” exhibition - Advancing Inclusive and Sustainable Economies:  Innovative approaches, business models and partnerships held in Hall 2, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on Thursday,10 January (11:00-16:00) and Friday, 11 January (09:00-15:30). The exhibition highlights and celebrates drivers of innovation and entrepreneurship in advancing green business for a better and more sustainable future for all.  Admission is free of charge.

 

 

31 Exhibitors, both local and international, provide a mixture of advice, funding opportunities, greening programmes as well as showcase what they are doing in furthering the country’s transition to a green economy.  In addition, there is a series of business workshops held at the venue offering a variety of interesting topics – everything from pitches by innovators in the green space and the establishment of a professional body for resource efficient and cleaner production practitioners to the launch of Green Jobs Regional Training Hub for Africa.  And while the public may not be able to attend the conference it will be broadcast into the exhibition venue where they will be able to view it on a screen.

 

The exhibition is being held as part of the Third International Ministerial Conference of the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) Conference which is being hosted by South Africa and takes place from 9-11 January 2019 at the CTICC.

 

The Conference is co-hosted by the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE), representing multiple UN agencies; and the South African government, under the auspices of the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).   

 

The global PAGE Ministerial Conference will bring together approximately 500 participants – including high-level representatives from governments, civil society, private sector, development partners, and the media.

 

The four themes which will be discussed during the 2019 conference are:

  • Show me the money – How do we unlock green finance?
  • Re-thinking - Strategies and policies for a green economy.                                                                            
  • No one left behind – Revising economic and social inclusion in the 21st Century.
  • Closing the loop - Sustainable consumption and production & circular economy.

 

South Africa has been at the forefront of championing green economy. The 3rd PAGE Ministerial Conference will provide an opportunity for South Africa, along with other international PAGE member countries, to reinforce their commitment to transition to a green/sustainable economy and to demonstrate implementation of the tools and strategies working to accelerate this transition.
