Call for host plants for NCPC-SA interns

The National Cleaner Production Centre of South Africa (NCPC-SA) is inviting manufacturing companies in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape to participate in its internship programme by hosting an NCPC-SA intern from June to December 2014 to assist their companies to improve resource efficiency and cleaner production (RECP). The six-month internship programme places engineering graduates in manufacturing plants, allowing them gain first-hand experience in the implementation of RECP methodologies and techniques.
  • Interns evaluate and monitor energy, water and material usage as well as waste management, whilst being mentored by industry experts.
  • The programme is fully funded by the NCPC-SA (on behalf of the dti) and thus the company hosts the intern at no cost.
  • As a host plant, you will benefit from having an intern to help address the skills gap that exists within many companies in terms of greener production.
  • Possible cost-saving benefits from having an on-site individual dedicated to identifying resource- and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Participation in the programme also heightens awareness around environmental practices amongst other staff.

The next intake will be in June 2014 and the internship will run until December.
